Two of the most influential people in my life:

I still remember where I sat
upon the floor in that room
watching the screen
fighting tears
knowing the rumors were true

He said do not be afraid
so many times before
yet I felt afraid and alone
on that old hard apartment floor

To the Father’s House
he sought to run
as his life came to a close
his children came to see him off
we cheered and watched him go.

Keep watch over us dear father
help us to not be afraid
speak to Him and Her about us
intercede when we pray.
