No, #1 did not cut off his ear in an attempt to gain inspiration for his work. He did not spend the night out in the middle of the woods searching for his artistic side. He used neither paint nor brush nor crayon. There were no lines, no guides, no rules for this, his latest creation. After falling upon the gravel drive he did not search for a band-aid. He did not cry out for comfort from his mother and father. Instead, inspired by the words of his younger brother, he grabbed a blank sheet of paper and blotted his wound for all the world to see.
