For some words from it’s sponsor…Jim’s wife 🙂
I noticed that it’s been almost a week since Jim updated everyone on Catherine. I was beginning to fear for his safety from those who are following Catherine, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.
Catherine is doing well after a small setback. Over the weekend she began to not tolerate her feedings very well. She was spitting up quite a bit and was not digesting the milk very well. So, they stopped her feeds for a few days, and she had an upper GI series, which showed that there were no obstructions. So, the doctors concluded that it was probably a slow motility issue and she is on a medication to help with that. She resumed feedings yesterday and is doing well with the 5mL that they are giving her every 3 hours. Usually they increased her feeds by 5mL every day, we’ll see if they continue that increase this time around. She also had an echocardiogram (ultrasound of her heart) to see if her lung/heart issues from when she was first admitted are resolving and it appears that they are. She is also gaining weight…she is around 5 lbs. 13 oz.! People always ask us when she is coming home and honestly we don’t know and neither do the doctors, it’s all up to Catherine. When she is taking all of her feeds from the bottle and is gaining weight, then she can go home. I imagine it will be a few more weeks at least.
We are extremely grateful for all of your prayers, they help so much! We are also so grateful to all of those who have helped us with food and gas and gifts. We are truly blessed! Thank you to our parents who have helped us with the boys while visiting the hospital, you have made this much easier for us. Please keep praying for Catherine that she tolerates her feeds and gains weight so that she can come home! We pray for all of you.
