This is how Catherine looked for about 24 hours after her surgery to place her feeding tube…nothing on her face! We think she is beautiful! But she began vomitting the next day and they had to place an OG tube (goes from her mouth to her stomach) to suction out the secretions and keep her stomach empty. After an upper GI today ( I think this is her 5th) it showed that part of her G-tube is blocking the secretions from exiting her stomach the correct way. Tomorrow the surgeon will attempt to adjust the G-tube with the aid of x-ray. She seems pretty confident she can fix it without another surgery. So after it was determined that this blockage will not affect her feedings into the J-tube, they began feeding her half her volume this afternoon and she was tolerating them well before I left. She has been poked and proded this past weekend and this morning, all she does is sleep when I visit her, she is so exhausted. Most likely tomorrow she will also get a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line inserted just in case she needs to go to surgery and in case she would need to be on TPN (total parenteral nutrition) a little while longer. Her tiny little veins just aren’t tolerating the drugs and she’s running out of places to have an IV.
Please pray that she tolerates her feeds and that the surgeon is able to adjust the tube so that it is no longer causing an obstruction and that the PICC will be inserted easily and without incident.
Thank you from Catherine’s Mom. We will continue to pray for you!
