Not my usual sort of post but fun nonetheless. This is a response to the writing prompt: Come up with a crazy business idea. Enjoy…
I’m an idea guy so I have a lot of crazy business ideas. Maybe they aren’t crazy but I haven’t seen them yet and I think businesses most often grow from an unmet need. Here are some that I’ve thought about for far too long..
Mobile Oil Change – Rather than driving to your local oil change shop and wasting an hour watching HGTV and drinking crappy coffee, we come to you. It doesn’t matter where you are, we’ll come and change your oil. At work? No problem, we’ll change your oil while you work and be gone faster than catalytic converter thieves (we won’t steal your catalytic converter).

At home? We can change your oil in your driveway or garage, let the kids watch, and make the neighbors jealous. At Church? Consider it an answer to your prayers. We’ll change your oil before Pastor Bob even has a chance to pass around the collection basket (note: please let us know if your pastor’s sermons are unusually short). Diopter – Tired of putting on your glasses or taking them off to read your phone or view your laptop screen? Diopter is the Answer! This App (available for Android and iOS) adjusts your screen to match your eyeglass or contact prescription with a simple tap. No more searching for your glasses to see those cute pictures of the grandkids on Facebook!
No more taking out your contacts or holding your phone at arms length to read that email from the Nigerian Princess! Diopter changes the pixilation and presentation of your screen so that no matter your prescription, you see clearly. Added bonus, since the screen has changed for you, it makes it more difficult for your nosy neighbor to see what your reading!
The Lego Broom – Our kids have 3.678 million Legos and it’s always a chore to pick them up. Even when we use the blanket method, there are still some strays lying around the playroom. Now, with the Lego Broom, picking up Legos is easy. Simply move the brush broom back and forth and Legos are whisked off the floor and into the storage trays attached to the broom. Think of it as a non-electric push sweeper for Legos. Once your storage trays are full, simply empty them into your Lego tote or into a Lego Sorter.
Thanks for reading about my crazy business ideas. Do you have a crazy idea, let me know in the comments. Maybe it isn’t so crazy after all and together we can conquer the world or at least fill an unmet need!
