I’ve been doing a lot of searching for truly unique gift ideas this Christmas. It is easy with the Internet of course which is my kind of shopping. When I go to the Mall or even a store like Meijer, after a few minutes I get that deer-in-the-headlights look and I feel the store start to spin to the tune of Jingle Bells!

Of course I’m not big on giving lots of gifts. I’d rather make my gifts. Short of that, I like to find truly unique gifts that you can’t get just anywhere. So, for the next few days or so I’ll share with you what I have found.

I think these items are really cool but you may not. Plus, my point of view – husband, father – may not be yours but you can share the ideas if you think they are cool too.
Anyway, here is gift idea number 1….

I always struggle with what I should get Nicole. Kitchen gifts are practical but they shout “serve us”. I try to stay away from those unless she has hinted in particular. We really can’t afford jewelry and besides, she really isn’t the type. God forbid that I would ever pick out clothes for her! So, one time I thought a bit outside the box and it was a hit. What was it? A down pillow. Simple but oh so comfortable. Pratical but pampering. She still sleeps on it today. It really is comfortable and I try to steal it often since my cardboard and straw stuffed pillow is not all that great!

Anyway, that’s my idea for her. Next time, something for him (think my favorite pastime!).

Love your new layout, Jim. And, um, you’re not exactly going to SURPRISE her with that, are you…I mean, you posted about it and everything (assuming she reads your blog…).But it IS a great idea!(And no, I haven’t forgotten about visiting you. Will email!)Hugs and prayers and blessings!

Thanks. I think your header picture on your blog is really cool. Rugged, tough…I think she reads my blog. Yeah, she does, I remember being yelled at for some posts! ;-)The pillow was a great idea in the past, now I’m on the hunt again. We’re still looking forward to the visit!

Thanks – that is a “Jim-ish” header isn’t it? We do have some rugged tendencies around here, even with our sparkly shoes and fairy princess clothes.
